So close

I managed some writing yesterday (don’t ask how, I have no idea where I managed to sneak the time!), getting over 1000 words written, woo go mee.

What was even more strange was that I realized I was very near the end of the story. I would have loved to have finished it last night, but the kid factor didn’t allow for it, which means I should cruise over the finish line at some point today 🙂

I can’t believe how close I am though, I had thought it would take another 5,000 words or so, and maybe then some as I often think I’m closer than I really am, but this time rather than have things crop up that needed to be written, there were things in the outline that had to be left out because they didn’t mesh with how the story was coming out. Which is fine, it’s the beauty of writing, and allowing story the flexibility to be what it needs to be.

So excited to get to the end, though it feels a little anti-climatic… all good though, as Tama said, it’s just the first draft! There are so many holes in it that need fixing, that it’s okay if the end feels a little less exciting than I thought it would be.

Anyways, time to roll, gotta get Ivy to daycare, then Lauren to sleep, then cleaning time! We have guests for the weekend and I can’t wait to see them! It’s been way too long. Just as well I’ll have the novel done – won’t feel the need to ignore them for the story!

  1. Funny you say that about endings. They always seem to sneak up on me, like I know I’m in the area but then suddenly the 5,000 words I thought it would take are 1,000 words and it’s done.
