I spent… I don’t know, awhile last night going through the agents on AgentQuery for fantasy (having decided my novel best slots into urban/contemporary fantasy) who accept email submissions. About half of all the agents listed on the site accept email submissions, which I’m viewing in a positive light although a part of my brain is saying, you know that means that the slim chance of getting an agent just got slimmer right? lol
So, for starters I picked 15 to do more research on, because I can always go back to the list. These are the ones who list that they are particularly interested in urban/contemporary, so we’ll see how it goes. It’s really exciting thinking that very soon I’ll be joining the masses of writers submitting to agents, and while I am well aware that it may never happen I’m feeling really positive. I want to jump in now, but know I am better off to wait until I have everything done properly.
Anyways, the read through is going really well, got through another three chapters yesterday and am hoping to reach the halfway point of the novel by the end of the weekend, or more, if I get lucky.
I have… well, a ‘writers’ meeting thing on Saturday, with one other person lol it’s kind of weird in some ways. We’ve never met, he replied to a notice that someone put up in the library a couple of months back – some of you may remember. Well, I did say my number could go on it, and the guy who was meant to be doing all the organizing has dropped off the face of the planet. So I’m left with a couple of people who have rang, and this guy in particular keeps chasing me up.
It’s not that I don’t want to be part of a writers group, but I thought that it would be a shared responsibility and I’m not sure I’m up to running one by myself. Ah well, we’ll see how it goes on Saturday afternoon and go from there. This guy sounds nice enough anyways, though it didn’t sound like he’d been writing a lot lately, more that he was looking for some motivation to get back into writing. If nothing else I can give him some information on resources available to NZ writers.
We’ll see. I hope it goes well.
Okay, better get on with the day! Life is exciting and wonderful 🙂
