Struggling

seriously, it’s ridiculous! I spend 2-3hours in bed with Lauren while she has her afternoon nap, and yet I’m still exhausted by this time of night, and often head off to bed at 830. Growing a baby is tiring, invisible work, and sometimes the invisible work is the hardest because no-one can see it happening.

I’m making very little progress with anything right now, though I’m really enjoy reading a lot, it’s great to be able to have that break from the computer and writing even – I just have to keep in mind that there will be a time for it again soon, just not right now. I know better than to force my story when my brain simply doesn’t have the fuel to make it shine.

We’ve fallen into this nice afternoon routine of sleeping/reading/resting, and then heading out into the garden for a half hour or so before going to pick Ivy up early from daycare. I like it, and slowly, the garden is improving, though it’s going to take probably another several years to get it all in order. So much chaos.

Anyways, I keep forgetting to mention the searchterm challenge results, you can find them here. I thoroughly encourage you to read Merrilee’s story, I had a feeling from the moment I read it (and it was only the second one up) that it would be the winner. They were all good stories though and I enjoyed reading them.

I got last equal πŸ˜‰ lol but oh well, it was a fun way to kill some time and I enjoyed tapping into Jessica. She is a character that’s been sitting around for awhile now and will one day get her turn to have her novel written, in the meantime she got to come out and play for a bit and that was cool. It’s the 5th entry, I will put it up in the story section at some point, when I have some more energy πŸ˜‰

  1. I can sympathise! Getting moving in first trimester was such a struggle. Nap on; you’ll do no-one any favours if you’re tired, especially yourself πŸ™‚

Thanks for the shout out πŸ™‚ Your story was one of the two I was vacillating between. I loved the idea πŸ™‚

    1. lol thanks for that! Napping is lovely, so is even just lying in bed with a book it’s like the ultimate luxury for me! I’ve forged on since Lauren was born with very few naps and I figure if I don’t take them now, I’m not going to get them for a few more years πŸ˜‰

Glad you liked the idea, Jessica is a fun character and it was awesome to be able to put her to use! I’ve never done that before, poached a novel character and used them in a short story, but I won’t be afraid to do so in the future.

  2. Well I can’t sympathize having no personal experience but I’m sure it must be tiring work.

And I have to say I did find your character, Jessica, pretty cool. I think she’d make a great novel!

    1. Heh, yeah she thinks so too πŸ˜‰ thankfully she’s too busy to spend much time nagging me though. She’ll possibly be the first novel I write after new baby comes as then we’ll both be mothers to little babies and that will work well.

  3. Hey, take it easy! πŸ˜› and don’t forget about your Twitter friends! lol I hope that I am still able to submit my novel to you next year, but will understand if I cannot, due to circumstances.

    1. I have been so slack with twitter, haven’t even logged in in days! The backlog of chat has been enough to scare me off. I’ll make an effort to pop in though πŸ˜‰

Providing you get your novel finished Mr, and to me in the early parts of the year then I’ll still have time. It’ll only take me a couple weeks to work through it and after this initial phase of pregnancy I’ll be on fire again, just you watch! I wrote a new novel, a novella and a couple short stories (and finished writing another novel I’d started the year before, other than about the last 5,000 words which were written the few weeks after she was born) while I was pregnant with Lauren.
