The party is over

It’s 2.35pm and I’m finally sitting down. All the guests are gone, the food eaten, the house a mess and I’m exhausted!

Having been awake since 4am probably doesn’t help. Thank heavens Lauren is having a decent sleep this afternoon, I would totally crawl into bed with her if I wasn’t quite sure she’d wake up just because.

But it went well, and thats the main thing, the chaos was relatively controlled and everyone seemed to have a good time. That said, it would have been great if the back lawn had been mowed and I coulda made a tent under the washing line like I’d wanted, or the front lawn was properly fenced in and the kids didn’t have to be quite so closely watched – maybe next year!

Was lovely catching up with everyone though and the weather was nice. I now have one very grumpy almost 5 year old… the afternoon after a party is always boring because nothing can ever quite live up to the morning, and no matter how much fun it is she is too tired to really enjoy it πŸ˜‰ hence the sitting around…

On another note, I think I might do some writing later, which should be fun.

The first birthday party I actually remember was my seventh. It was a beautiful day, I had loads of friends round, I was so overstuffed that I projectile vomited in the sitting room, and I had a great time.

My mother’s dead now but, if she was around, I’d write to her right now to thank her for that day.
