When life gets in the way

This week has been pretty big on other life stuff, with very little time for writing. At least I’ve been feeling a lot less flat/depressed/out of sorts than last week though!

Finally, the loan for the car repair has been signed off on, the car is currently being assessed and the house is back in order after a few days of constant appointments/driving places. Thank goodness. I was beginning to wonder if it would never end. Then of course yesterday afternoon there was a massive power outage and we had no electricity for about four hours. I took the girls to a friends house on the other side of town after school because it was just too dark and miserable at our place. Totally going to have to stock up on candles and stuff in case it happens again – when its pouring down outside and there is no power, its really not very fun!

Anyway. I should be writing. Right now. The child is asleep and I really do want to get this latest short story finished. First drafted anyways. I’ve not touched it in a couple of days due to everything else going on and I need to just launch myself back into it.

Yet I have managed to fritter away a good half hour of my time. Awesome. I’m totally good at this procrastination thing. Something I desperately need to work on (though, I could always argue that even Mummy’s need some downtime).

Okay. I’m going. Wish me luck and some inspiration. I could do with it around now!

  1. Power outages are the reason why I always try to keep my nintendo DS and my Ipod fully charged. Gives me something to do when there’s not enough light to do anything else. Glad things are finally starting to fall into place for you… Sounds like you had a rough time of it for a short while. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out. And I do hope you managed to get something done… although I agree mummy needs downtown, she always manages to feel quite guilty when she gets nothing done during that time… 😛

    1. one day I’ll learn the art of napping gracefully. Then, maybe, I’ll take afternoon naps with Lauren 🙂 lol but yeah, things are looking a lot better this week (and will be better again when we have the other car back!). Now if only I could just be at home for a period of time to both chill AND write. That would be good.

    1. LOL don’t worry, I’m nowhere near done – maybe today! End of this week for sure (yeah, I know I wanted it done end of last…).

  2. Oh my goodness yes mummies need downtime!! I’ve been faffing about the last two days playing solitaire (of which I am a self-confessed addict!) while listening to music, plotting out some ideas. You’ve had a busy time of it, relaxation is necessary, especially since in about 10 weeks you’ll be swamped! 🙂

    1. yes, swamped is an accurate description. But blissed out on new babies and new baby induced sleep deprivation which is somehow a million times better than non baby induced.

  3. Good luck! It’s so easy to loose time on the internet when you’re supposed to be writing. Hey, I’m doing it right now :p
