Just ten minutes

I’ve decided that I need to start taking my own advice. For months now, I’ve been trying to encourage a friend to get writing – he loves to do it, but never makes it a priority, never creates time for it, so he is struggling to create a habit.

Ah, habit. My old friend.

I keep saying to him ‘just 10 minutes a day, if you can find that, and do it every day, you’ll make progress.’ And it’s true. 10 minutes a day is all it takes to form a habit. If you do something every day, no matter how short the time, eventually it just becomes part of what you do.

Natalie is 8 weeks old tomorrow. Can you believe it? I can definitely find 10 minutes a day now, even if it seems like an effort at times.

Starting today.

I confess to spending last week pretty much just watching Bones. I watched every episode of Season 5 from Mon-Fri. 5 days, 22 episodes. That’s dedication. That was needed downtime. But now, it’s time to get back on the horse and carve out regular time.

Just 10 minutes a day.

  1. It can be pretty hard — no doubt. I identify with you completely. Even remembering to jot down story ideas can be hard. And then, tragically, sometimes those ideas get lost forever.

    Nice musing.

    1. I use my cellphone for making notes on stories when I’m out and about – that way I can always recall them šŸ˜‰
But yes, it can be hard, specially when you’re reforming a habit – the smallest thing can throw you out.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting šŸ™‚

    1. Merilee, so far I have managed 3 minutes… and then 4 minutes about 40 mins after that. 3 to go and I should crack the 1k mark on this story, yay! but oh, painful lol. Might try and nab 10 mins in a row tomorrow šŸ˜‰
