Committing to a novel

It’s been a year since I started my last novel, Chasing Ascension (which remains incomplete being that 9 days into NaNoWriMo last year I found out I was pregnant with Natalie).  In that year I’ve managed to avoid devoting myself to a novel because of pregnancy, and the knowledge that I simply wouldn’t have time to write (morning sickness, exhaustion, omg I’m having a baby related panic attacks).

Short stories have been an amazing diversion, and I feel like I’ve really come a long way as a story teller in a year. But, it’s time to pick a bigger project and commit.

So, once I have Mocha Nihilism rewritten and looking pretty, Delaney is getting all my attention. I’m going to spend the next month making a rough outline and getting things together for it. Come December, I should be novel writing.

To be honest, it scares the hell out of me, but at the same time, I’m so excited to get back to a longer work. Let’s just hope that by then I’m getting more than 10 mins a day to write – otherwise it might take me another year to get a first draft out!

  1. Congrats on the decision to take the plunge! Good luck with the plotting and writing, I’m looking forward to hearing all about it As I’ve said before, Delaney sounds so interesting! Can’t wait to read the book 😀

  2. Cassie, I wish you the best on your new novel. It’s a lot of work and it is indeed scary, but so worth it when you’re finished. What an accomplishment!

You commented on my old blog a long time ago and – I admit – I was terrible about following up with it. I’m getting much better now and I hope you’ll stop by sometime. Best of luck!
