Down sizing (or, reclaiming adult space)

A completely off topic post in which I share the contents of my purse. Cause you know, my brain is in the process of melting, but I really felt like I wanted to post ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ll forgive me, I’m sure.

For almost two and a half years now I have been using my wonderful ‘nappy’ bag. It’s a great bag, in funky, gender neutral colours so that my husband could also make use of it. It’s smaller than most peoples, and I do love it. See below:

But now that the girls are getting bigger, I thought it was finally time to switch back to a regular bag. You know, a ‘hand bag’, kind of like a real grown up (though, I’m still not sure I consider myself to be in that category). I found one that I thought would work for just $2 at the Salvation Army store (Great place to shop!), and promptly went about making the switch.

It may not be the most stylish bag, but my word – it’s functional, and sturdy and for right now, those things are more important! Also, it fits all the essentials! The only things I’m not carrying around now are an extra change of clothes, and if we’re going anywhere we might need those, I can load Lauren’s backpack up with extra supplies.

Now, before you say anything – YES bubble mixture IS an essential item! Anyone with small kids will know that they are an awesome distraction technique, applicable to children of all ages.

As you can see here, I have: nappies, wipes, a rubbish bag, plasters, hand cream, bubbles, a pen, lip gloss, notebook, Kindle, purse, camera, keys, tissues and a facecloth. I also put in snacks when required. I’m actually pretty amazed that I can fit so much into the bag and still have it maintain it’s shape. Think how slim it will look when I have no baby stuff in it? I guess then I can get an even smaller bag? Or will I just find more stuff to put in it?

To completely switch topics again: I think you should go and check out this website. I just finished reading a review copy ofย Phoenix Rising, and LOVED it. I’ll be reviewing it in the near future, but in the meantime there are fun things to check out on the website already! Man, I am already dying to see what Agents Books and Braun get up to in the next novel. Hopefully the wait won’t be long ๐Ÿ˜‰

And with that, I’ll leave you for another day.

Have a great Friday!

    1. E-readers are awesome. Totally endorse them! Start dropping hints for whatever the next big occasion is and get people to pledge donations ๐Ÿ˜‰ Worked for me!

    1. Yeah, Lauren got a bag for Xmas and LOVES carrying it around–though it’s not always convenient when we’re just making a trip to school to pick up big sister. I’m loving not feeling like I need to lug a bigger bag around though. Quite a nice change!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting ๐Ÿ™‚
