The first page is the hardest

I confess that I’ve been floundering for awhile. I wanted to do the edits on the novella, as well as push forward with writing Chasing Ascension. I couldn’t seem to find the time for both, so struggled to work on either. I *knew* that once I made a decision about which one needed to come first, once I started work on it, I would get swept up and everything would be okay, but I put off making that decision for far longer than I should have.

It made more sense to get back to edits on the novella so that I could get it out to readers, and then revise again before submitting. So in the end, that’s what I went with. I wish I hadn’t waited so long! I got through 10 pages today, and it’s better than I remember it being. Considering there are only 50 pages, I should have this done by the end of the month.

Which means that once again I am going to fail HalfNoc. I don’t know why I sign up for these challenges. Something always happens that means I don’t complete them! As much as I am excited by Chasing Ascension, I just couldn’t get into writing it knowing that I should be working on the other novella. I am still going to finish it – but not until I have this novella back out to my readers! It’s time to get sensible about my writing and actually work towards finishing something and getting it out into the world.

It’s always hard to get started, but once you do, it’s often easier than you thought it would be.

How is your writing going this week?
