Allons-y!

doctor whoWell, April is here and with it a month of challenges. This post (A for Allons-y) kicks off the first day of the A-Z blogging challenge, and Camp NaNo also begins today.

Right now I feel vastly unprepared for both, but that’s okay. It will be a rollicking month and we’ll take each day as it comes. I’m down with that.

So, why Allons-y? Well, it starts with A… and, it means ‘Lets go!’ which felt like a great sentiment with which to start the month. But also, because I’m a massive Doctor Who fangirl, even though I came late to it.

In fact, I fell in love with the Doctor in Season 5, when I was up in the wee hours of the morning, feeding my newborn baby. The seasons always come later here in NZ (or at least, back then they used to), so it was fairly early on in Matt Smiths’ time as The Doctor. I was instantly hooked, andย set it up to record the series so that any time I was awake in the night the Doctor could keep me company.

It was my thing, my special show. Back then Hubby wasn’t interested in watching it, so once Natalie started sleeping better, and I no longer had that span of time in the night to watch I would take Doctor Who nights as my down time, the kids in bed, Hubby on his PC, and me on the couch in peace, escaping the real world for an hour.

I loved having it to myself, but I also love that now I get to share it. Having watched 7+ series with my husband, and lots of specials with my girls, I can see it’s becoming a family thing. And I couldn’t be happier about it ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It’s good to have a decent show to watch during those hours of night feeds. Makes the memories of being awake at all the wrong times a lot nicer ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I see you’re doing the A-Z too ๐Ÿ™‚
I really liked Matt Smith – he’s ‘my’ doctor, while Tennant is definitely Hubby’s preferred Doctor. Will be interesting to see how Capaldi goes! My daughter is already saying he’s so ‘old’ lol (she’s 9, so I guess he does look ancient in comparison).

    1. You know, I never got into it back when it started up again, so I think sometimes it’s about finding it at the right time, and maybe the right Doctor for you. Maybe check out the new Doctor when it starts back!

  1. I’m only on season three of Doctor Who, and when it switched from Eccleston I was so upset because I thought I would never be as attached to another Doctor! But now I’m dreading Tennant leaving… such an emotional rollercoaster of a show!

    1. I know that feeling!!! I literally cried during Matt Smith’s last episodes because I was struggling with the potential change so much. I almost didn’t watch the 50th special because I thought that was the final! LOL Tennant was also a wonderful Doctor, I hope you enjoy Smith too!
